St Pancras & Somers Town ward has three Labour councillors:


Cllr Samata Khatoon

Samata has lived in Somers Town since the age of 9. She went to school locally, first to Argyle primary school and then to South Camden Community School. All Samata’s family live in the area and her son is now a student at the excellent Edith Neville Primary School, where she is a parent governor. During her spare time she does volunteer work, at present she is the treasure for Banglar shur (UK) also Editor for Young People Voice Magazine (Camden).

Samata previously worked for the Bengali Worker Association as a Senior Youth Worker for 8 years (Camden Youth & Connexions). She is studying for a degree in Criminology.

Samata joined the Labour Party because she wants to make a difference and be a voice for local people. She wants to do all that she can to make Camden a more equal place.

Cllr Roger Robinson

Roger Robinson has been Councillor for St Pancras and Somers Town ward from 2002.  He previously served on Camden Council from 1964 – 71 and then 1974 – 78 and from 1998 – 2002 for St Pancras ward.  He is a former chair Hampstead and Highgate CLP and St Pancras North CLP.  Roger was head of Administration and Personnel and head of the General Secretary’s department, Labour Party head office from 1976 – 87.  He is currently the Labour Group Whip and has served on Housing, Staff, Planning and Equalities committees.

Roger has served as school governor on Parliament Hill School (former vice chair); La Sainte Union; JFS, St Michaels; and as governor of Ruskin College, Oxford for 26 years until 2002.He is married, with 4 children, 2 grandchildren one great grandchild.

Roger has founded and served on Camden Committee for Community Relations, Camden Alzheimers Society and Labour Party Disabled Members Group, as well as being former CEO and now chair of Artsline, Disability Arts voluntary organisation. He is a member of AMICUS trade union.

Roger is a former magistrate from 1971 – 2007, inner London, served as a member of Industrial Tribunals, England and Wales and is a fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
