Sally Gimson elected as new Labour Councillor for Highgate

Local mum and campaigner Sally Gimson has been elected as councillor for Highgate ward. The election which took place on the 15th of September after former councillor Michael Nicolaides stood down due to family and work commitments.

Sally said, ‘I’m so delighted to been chosen by the people of Highgate to represent them. It’s an honour and to receive the support of so many people has been amazing. I’m determined to work as hard as I can with Councillor Valerie Leach to ensure we champion the concerns of local residents and to protect our local services from the Government’s cuts’.

Labour received 41 per cent of the vote after a strong and hard fought campaign based on local issues and challenging the Government’s police cuts.

The results in full are as follows: Sally Gimson (Labour) 1178, Alexis Rowell (Green) 947, Anthony Denyer (Conservative) 593, Martin Hay (Lib Dem) 111.
